Learning Outcomes
Photoshop CS4
Learners who participate in this programme will: have an understanding of the Photoshop interface and working environment; be able to navigate and use Adobe Bridge file management, within Photoshop; have gained basic knowledge in the use of the Type Tool and associated control panels; be able to use Photoshop’s painting and editing tools with confidence; have practical knowledge in the use of Photoshop Masks and Channels; now how to use of Patterns and Gradients; students will have gained valuable knowledge and understanding in the use of colour correction tools and techniques and the use of Photoshop filters to produce desired effects; gained experience in the use of the Photoshop Pen Tool and retouching and repairing; acquired advance knowledge in the use Layers, Action Scripts in Photoshop; gained experience and knowledge of Photoshop’s Vector Mask feature, combined with correct use of paths to create clipping masks; be able to produce a Duotone piece of artwork ready for print; be able to prepare images for printing in the correct professional manner; and gained experience working with Camera Raw files; and developed advanced Photoshop skills.
Illustrator CS4
Learners who participate in this programme will: have gained understanding of the tool palettes; creating basic shapes; drawing with the pen tool; various way to paint and colour using Illustrator; gain the necessary skills and knowledge to be able to create technically advanced images and documents using the type tools; the various brushes available to them in the programme; how to blend shapes and colours; have gained skills in using 3D effects tools; knowledge about illustrator layers; transforming objects in illustrator; applying Transparency & Blending Modes; have gained the necessary skills and knowledge to create airbrush effects; apply appearance attributes styles; effects; and have first hand experience in the use and creation of Symbols; have experience in creating shapes with the Pathfinder; combining Illustrator graphics and Photoshop images; Printing art, with and without colour separations; and drawing images using the perspective grid.
InDesign CS4
Learners who participate in this programme will: develop confidence importing images and manipulating picture frames; be able to use selection and direct selection tools to modify and reposition images; gain an understanding of image alignment and image rotation; learned how to duplicate an Image and Picture frame; understand how to enter text into frames, Flow text manually and Automatically, load styles from other documents and apply them; gained understanding of the find change feature (for spelling, formatting and missing Fonts); be able to set type on a curved path. Learners will be able to create special characters and change type spacing and appearance; gained an understanding of what a grid is for and how to use it will be achieved; gained an understanding of the qualities of ‘Open Type’; have gained valuable knowledge and understanding in the use of creating tables; be able to format tables with alternating colours, format cell and border strokes, apply colours to individual rows, delete and resize columns, set precise column dimensions, place single or multiple graphics within a cell, format text in tables by columns and by rows; gained an understanding of transparency and blending modes for text and images; have a solid grounding in the production of long documents with the book palette and gain competency in using the book palette and join multiple InDesign Documents into a book, assign a source document for defining styles; update book files after modifying documents, create an index file and sort entries in indexes, and edit index references; gained an understanding of checking the InDesign document before it is printed (quality control); be able to Generate PDF files for proofing; gained knowledge of appropriate settings for fonts and graphics; be able to create a Print preset to automate the printing process; and gained an understanding of how to collect all necessary files for the printing of an InDesign document.
